Founder & Executive Director

Sinnidra Taylor, a leader from the heart, has humbly made a transformative impact on the community in the food/beverage and hospitality space. Her unwavering dedication to addressing the significant barriers faced by budding food entrepreneurs has resulted in a ripple effect of positive change.

The organization she founded, Friends of Codey's NOLA, emerged from the recognition of formidable challenges that entrepreneurs face when trying to transition their food businesses from mere survival to sustainability. Taylor identified three critical barriers stifling the growth of these businesses: access to affordable commercial kitchen space, diverse revenue streams, and culinary entrepreneurship courses. With this awareness, she set out on a mission to tear down these obstacles and empower others to achieve their culinary dreams.

Since its inception in October of 2020, Friends of Codey's NOLA has made a profound impact on the community. The organization has provided invaluable assistance to dozens of food businesses, helping them navigate the maze of legal formalization and regulatory compliance. This support not only eases the burden on entrepreneurs but also ensures that they are operating with legitimacy and transparency.

What sets Taylor apart as a true leader is her advocacy for change on a broader scale. She has been a tireless champion in pushing for the expansion of permits and occupational licenses, making it easier for foodpreneurs to establish themselves and thrive. Friends of Codey's has also hosted technical assistance programs, equipping aspiring culinary entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in a competitive industry.

Friends of Codey's has offered below-market-rate kitchen rental, providing access to facilities that would otherwise be financially out of reach for many. This, in turn, has enabled countless entrepreneurs to take their culinary creations to the next level.

Furthermore, Taylor's ability to foster partnerships within the community has been truly impressive. She has introduced vendors to notable collaborations with catering companies, festivals, and economic development organizations. These partnerships not only boost the businesses' revenue but also contribute to the overall economic growth of the community.

Perhaps one of the most significant contributions of Friends of Codey's NOLA is the organization's dedication to organizing collective/shared catering opportunities. This not only benefits the entrepreneurs involved but also showcases the culinary diversity and talent of the community, attracting a broader audience.

In leading from the heart with intention, Taylor has created a community characterized by reciprocity, accountability, and growth. The support system she has established embodies the values of integrity and collaboration. Her vision for the future is clear: by continuing to lead with unwavering integrity and partnering with businesses that share this commitment, they can create a thriving food and hospitality ecosystem where everyone has a seat at the table. She is not just a leader; she is a beacon of hope and a catalyst for positive change in her community.
